Where to Find Unique Peel-and-Stick Wallpaper Patterns Online
Plenty of peel-and-stick wallpaper sites sell the same handful of geometric prints with different color swaps. Genuinely unique patterns, ones with an actual story or a distinctive hand-drawn quality, take a little more looking. Here's what to look for.
Look for a real design story
The most memorable wallpaper patterns usually come from somewhere specific. Our Scout Collection is named after a real Brooklyn firehouse dog, Engine Co. No. 23's Scout, a hero from 1928 who saved a family of five and a cat, and each colorway carries that history into a modern speckled dot pattern. Our Waverly House collection was inspired by the renovation of a nearly 200-year-old Greenwich Village townhouse, with patterns and colors discovered during that actual renovation process.
Hand-drawn detail sets a pattern apart
A pattern drawn by an actual illustrator tends to have more life in it than a purely digital, symmetrical print. Our collaborations with illustrator @drawbertson, including Zebras in Love and Painted Lips, bring a loose, hand-drawn quality, playful zebra illustrations and varied brushstroke lips, that a computer-generated pattern can't quite replicate.
Consider where the pattern's original inspiration came from
Some of the most distinctive prints are reproductions or reinterpretations of something real. Our Zebra Marble pattern is based on an antique zebra wallpaper uncovered during the Waverly Place renovation, giving it a genuine vintage design lineage rather than a purely trend-driven origin.
Scale and repeat affect how "unique" a pattern reads
A large pattern repeat, like the 18 inch repeat on Family of Cranes or the roughly 21 inch repeat on our Feather Palm collection, tends to read as more distinctive and less obviously repetitive on a wall than a tightly repeating small-scale print.
